Synthesis of a conductive coordination polymer via a one-pot thioether deprotection process

Abstract

A novel thioether deprotection process is reported here for the synthesis of a 1,2,4,5-tetrathiolbenzoquinone-based conductive coordination polymer, which has the potential to be applied for the synthesis of c-CPs. In this method, a one-pot reaction with nickel chloride and tert-butyl sulfide as reactants was employed to synthesize conductive coordination polymer materials successfully. The obtained polycrystalline product is a narrow bandgap semiconducting material with a conductivity of 0.02 S cm−1 at 300 K.
