A pentagonal bipyramidal cobalt(II) single-ion magnet tape

Abstract

A one-dimensional (1D) coordination tape with a ladder topology featuring pentagonal bipyramidal cobalt(II) centers was synthesized and magnetically characterized. Magnetic studies combined with ab initio calculations reveal the large easy-plane magnetic anisotropy of the tape with field-induced single-ion magnet (SIM) property, which renders this coordination tape the first seven-coordinate SIM tape.
