Cucurbit[n]uril-mediated supramolecular assembly: tunable multicolor and white-light emission from a single fluorophore

Abstract

A multicolored supramolecular assembly was constructed by coassembling a dibromoanthraquinone-9-one phenylpyridine cationic derivative (DBXPY) with cucurbit[8]uril (Q[8]) and tetramethylcucurbit[6]uril (TMeQ[6]). It achieved white light emission and tunable fluorescence, with applications in anticounterfeiting, LEDs and cell imaging.
