The Silver Sputnik. Evaluation of the Exohedral Dynamic in [C60M]+ (M = Cu, Ag, Au)

Abstract

Exohedral metal fullerenes given by coinage metals placed over the C60 surface, reveals distinct dynamic behaviors, from localized domains for [C60Au] + to largely delocalized surface mobility of the exohedral atom for copper and silver. These dynamic behaviors suggest potential applications as in adaptive materials as effective mobilizers, highlighting [C60Ag] + as the first rationalization of a molecular sputnik analog.
