Soft chiral-bridged binuclear Pt(II) complexes with cyclometalated N-heterocyclic carbene ligands for multicolor circularly polarized luminescence

Abstract

Half-lantern binuclear Pt(II) complexes with cyclometalated N-heterocyclic carbene ligands deliver red to green circularly polarized luminescence (FWHM 50-61 nm). The presence of soft chiral-bridged ligands leads to efficient chiral self-sorting of metal-induced planar chirality (ee > 99%) and strong phosphorescence (quantum yield, lifetime, and asymmetry factor up to 71.4%, 1.78 μs, and 2.33 ×  10⁻³, respectively).
