Metal-Free Intramolecular Trifluoromethylthiolation/Selenolation of Alkynes

Abstract

A metal-free electrophilic trifluoromethylthiolation/selenolation has been developed. Electrophilic SCF3/SeCF3 species generated from trifluoromethyl sulfoxide/selenoxide and Tf2O successfully couple with alkynes bearing pendant nucleophiles to obtain the corresponding trifluoromethylthiolation/selenolation and cyclization products in good to high yield.
