Electrostatically polarized hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks for high-efficiency gold recovery from acidic electronic waste leachates

Abstract

Electrostatic polarization of naphthalimide ligands directs hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF) assembly and adsorption. Highly polarized TBD-HOF forms ordered 1D channels, enabling ultrafast, selective Au(III) capture (2275.6 mg g-1 within 6 min) and >99% recovery from acidic e-waste leachates, establishing polarization engineering for practical gold extraction.
