Hydrosilylation of ω-hydroxyalkenes catalysed with 2-methacryloyloxyethyl-phosphorylcholine-protected ruthenium nanoparticles

Abstract

Selective hydrosilylation of ω-hydroxyalkenes is achieved using 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC)-protected ruthenium nanoparticles ((PC-SH) Ru NPs). The MPC-derived surface suppresses O-silylation, enabling unprecedented C=C functionalisation unattainable with other Ru catalysts. (PC-SH) Ru NPs were characterised by X-ray absorption spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy among other techniques.
