Topotactic conversion of Ni3CuN into Ni3Cu with Anti-Perovskite Structure Reveals the Role of Nitrogen on Electrocatalytic Properties

Abstract

A topotactic route from anti-perovskite Ni3CuN into phase-pure Ni3Cu preserves both the crystal structure and the particle morphology. Electrochemical tests in 1 M KOH reveal that Ni3CuN and Ni3Cu show nearly identical electrocatalytic performance towards HER suggesting that lattice nitrogen does not participate in the catalytic process under the tested conditions.
