Chromium ion pair luminescence with controllable coupling strength

Abstract

Cr3+-Cr3+ ion pairs luminescence is promising in developing long-wavelength near-infrared emission with high PLQY for the emerging smart spectroscopy applications. Herein, we achieve controllable Cr3+-Cr3+ ion pairs coupling in K2Zr1-δTiδAl(PO4)3:Cr3+ (0 ≤ δ ≤ 1) solid-solutions, enabling a systematic study of coupling-strength-dependent luminescence performance.
