Synthesis of an amidinate-supported arsasilene and its attempted oxidation

Abstract

The practical synthesis of the bulky arsenide anion, [As(SiiPr3)2]¯, was developed. Then a ylide-like arsasilene LSi(SiiPr3)=AsSiiPr3 (L = PhC(NtBu)2) (2) was synthesized via 1,2-silyl migration of the arsinosilylene LSi-As(SiiPr3)2. Single-electron oxidation of the arsasilene resulted in the formation of aresnic hydride cation via a possible cationic radical intermediate.
