Photochemical, Halogen Atom Transfer (XAT) Mediated Three-Component Dichloromethylative Pyridylation of Styrenes

Abstract

Visible-light mediated three-component dichloromethylative pyridylation of styrenes has been developed. This method employs α-aminoalkyl radicals derived from tertiary amine for chlorine atom abstraction from chloroform. A series of dichloromethylated alkylpyridines, including deuterated derivatives, have been synthesized under mild reaction conditions.
