Constructing dual-redox polyimides for enhanced hybrid capacitive deionization performance

Abstract

The limited active sites and inherent conductivity of redox-active polyimide severely hinder its application for electrochemical deionization. To overcome these limitations, a quinone-containing PI with dual redox-active moieties was demonstrated a high Na+ removal capacity of 63.9 mg g-1 and robust regenerative stability, which proposes a strategy for the design of polymeric desalination electrodes.
