Beyond FLP additions: FLP deprotonation and C-O bond cleavage of aliphatic, aryl and ester derived olefins

Abstract

The 1,2-addition of B(C6F5)3 and Lewis bases to olefins is a classic reaction defining and extending FLP-chemistry. Herein, we show that FLP reactivity with alkyl, aryl and ester derived olefins, also provides access to other reaction pathways not previously observed including C-H deprotonations, 1,4addition, and C-O bond scissions, depending on the nature of the base and olefinic substrate.
