A Copper Metal-Organic Hydrogel as a Heterogeneous and Reusable Catalyst for the Synthesis of β-Amino Alcohols

Abstract

A new low-molecular-weight gelator (LMWG), {(2-hydroxy-napthalen-1-yl)methyl}glycine (H3L) has been synthesised and characterised. The LMWG has been used to prepare a Cu(II) metallohydrogel (Cu-MOG). The Cu-MOG is an efficient, regioselective, and reusable catalyst for the nucleophilic ring-opening of epoxides with amines under mild, solvent-free conditions.
