Strong interfacial electronic coupling activates NiFeOOH for alkaline seawater oxidation

Abstract

We report Ga-modified Ni2P/Fe2P nanosheets that operando reconstruct into the NiFeOOH-GaOx active phase. Ga p-Ni/Fe d hybridization boosts interfacial electronic coupling and charge redistribution, enabling alkaline seawater OER at industrial current densities and delivering 500 mA cm -2 at 1.78 V for 100 h in an AEM electrolyzer.
