MoS2-supported highly dispersed PtCu bimetallic nanoparticles for enhancing furfural selective hydrogenation to 2-methylfuran

Abstract

Highly dispersed and tiny PtCu particles anchored on MoS2 nanosheets show 99.4% furfural conversion and 95.3% 2-methylfuran selectivity under the reaction conditions of 180 °C, 2.0 h, 2.0 MPa H2 and isopropanol as the solvent, significantly superior to those of the Pt/MoS2 and Cu/MoS2 monometallic catalysts, mainly due to electron transfer from Cu to Pt.
