Isolated Ni(OH)2 sites for selective electrooxidation of ethanol to acetate

Abstract

The electrochemical ethanol oxidation reaction (EOR) using isolated Ni(OH)2 sites achieved over 90% Faradaic efficiency (FE) for acetate formation. The effects of potential, catalyst loading, and solution composition on FE are explained by a sequential oxidation pathway of ethanol, providing design insights for efficient acetate production via the EOR.
