1,4-Dihydropyridine Compounds as Versatile Dehalogenation Reagents under Visible-Light Irradiation

Abstract

1,4-dihydropyridine (DHP) anions excited by visible light have been employed as dehalogenation reagents or precursors of formal hydrogen radicals, and enables the sequential dehalogenation (I> Br>Cl) of polyhalogenated compounds. The dehalogenative functionalization reaction was achieved by choice of DHP species and amounts to inhibit the hydrodehalogenation pathway.
