Interfacially Modified Si-Pd/Carbon Catalyst for Selective Pulegone (C=C bond) Hydrogenation to Menthone-Isomenthone

Abstract

Chemoselective pulegone hydrogenation over Si-Pd/C affords 97.6% menthone-isomenthone yield at low H2 pressure (10 psi), driven by Si-Pd interfacial synergism. The catalyst maintains >96% activity after five consecutive cycles, providing robust, industrially compatible strategy for DMO (dementholized oil) detoxification and precise monoterpenoid (pulegone) conversion to high value products.
