Enzyme- and Photo-Gated Polymerization Using Readily Available Enzyme-Responsive Fluorescent Dyes

Abstract

Photoinitiated radical polymerization holds great promise as a method for creating biomaterials. Here, we report an enzyme-gated photoinduced polymerization using commercially available enzyme-responsive fluorescent dyes as photocatalysts. This system enabled synthesis of linear polymer and hydrogel in response to various target enzymes, which serves as a platform for bio-responsive polymer synthesis.
