Organomediator Enabled Electrochemically Regioselective 1,2-Arylalkylation of Alkenes with Aryl and Alkyl Halides
Abstract
Alkene difunctionalization represents an efficient methodology for rapidly accessing complex molecular frameworks. Here, we developed a novel electrochemically intermolecular three-component regioselective 1,2-arylalkylation of alkenes with aryl and alkyl halides assisted by dimethyl terephthalate. This method features mild conditions, wide substrate scope, and no requirement for noble-metal catalysts, and can be applied to the production of 1,1-diarylalkanes. The protocol offers a pioneering strategy for achieving regioselective 1,2-arylalkylation of alkenes via radical pathways.
