A face-regulated tetrahedral cage for selective and efficient encapsulation of perylene dimers

Abstract

A face-capped tetrahedral metal–organic cage has been assembled from methoxy-functionalised C₃-symmetric triamines and aldehydes in the presence of Zn²⁺ ions. This cage exhibits selective and efficient encapsulation of perylene dimers. This host-guest complex can further facilitate reactive oxygen species generation and demonstrate remarkable antibacterial activity under light irradiation.
