Polyethyleneimine-functionalized MXene as stable two-dimensional platforms for gene delivery systems

Abstract

This study examined the influence of polyethyleneimine (PEI) molecular weight on the chemical bonding, colloidal behavior, pDNA loading, cytotoxicity, and cellular uptake of PEI–MXene hybrids. The hybrids showed reduced cytotoxicity compared with PEI, highlighting their potential as safe pDNA delivery systems.
