Lanthanide-doped NaYF4 Upconversion Nanoparticles as Bifunctional Catalysts for Overall Water Splitting

Abstract

This study reports bifunctional β-NaYF4:Yb3+/Er3+ and β-NaYF4:Yb3+/Tm3+ UCNPs capable of efficient overall water splitting under both electrochemical and photoelectrochemical conditions, exhibiting low overpotentials, good stability, and enhanced PEC activity, offering a promising route toward sustainable, solar-driven hydrogen production.
