Electro-oxidative [3+2] cycloaddition for the synthesis of 5-selenyltetrazoles

Abstract

5-Selenyltetrazoles, which combine tetrazole scaffolds with organoselenium frameworks, have been widely incorporated into various functional molecules. Herein, we report an environmentally friendly and efficient electrochemical three-component reaction of isonitriles, diselenides and TMSN3 to access 5-selenyltetrazoles under metal-free conditions. Both aliphatic and aryl isonitriles and diselenides are suitable for this strategy at room temperature, showing excellent functional group tolerance and high atom economy.
