Hollow polydopamine spheres decorated with MoS2 nanosheets for hydrogen evolution reaction

Abstract

Hollow carbon spheres decorated with MoS2 (HCS@MoS2 ) were synthesized using SiO2 templating and polydopamine carbonization. The porous carbon shell enlarges the electrochemically active surface area while flower-like mixedphase MoS2 nanosheets expose catalytic sites. The ecofriendly electrocatalyst exhibits low HER overpotential (0.3 V at 10 mA cm-2 ) and remarkable stability.
