Amine-based anion receptor enables an improved magnesium plating/stripping reversibility

Abstract

3-Furfurylamine (FFA) is proposed as an anion receptor able to ameliorate Mg plating/stripping reversibility in conventional Mg2+ electrolytes. The primary amine group in FFA forms a strong hydrogen bond linkage with salt anions, confining them into the bulk electrolyte and thus suppressing their decomposition at the interface between the electrolyte and the Mg–metal anode.
