Regioisomeric Donor-Acceptor-Donor Chromophores Derived from Functionalized Fluorene and Benzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis([1,2,3]triazole) Units as Potential Organic Laser Materials

Abstract

A pair of structurally isomeric and highly emissive chromophores composed of functionalized fluorene and benzo[1,2-d:4,5-d']bis([1,2,3]triazole) units has been synthesized and investigated for their amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) properties in various condensed states including solution, neat-film and doped-film phases in order to evaluate their potentiality as light-amplification materials. It is experimentally found that the structural isomerism of the studied model compounds exert drastic effect on their emission properties as they manifest distinct color of emission and conspicuous differences in their ASE thresholds in solution and neat-film states. To explore the possibility for the enhancement of their ASE performance in solid-state, it is preliminarily demonstrated that using a commercialized polymer and a selected green-emitter developed by our laboratory as the corresponding host for the energy transfer in solution-processed blend films has led to salient reduction of the optical pumping threshold values compared to those of their neat-films fabricated under identical condition.
