Research Progress of Heterogeneous Catalysts with Different Dimensional Supports for Catalytic Hydrolysis of Ammonia Borane
Abstract
Hydrogen energy, as a clean energy source, is considered a perfect substitute for fossil fuels. Among most of hydrogen production strategies, the hydrolysis of ammonia borane (AB, NH3BH3) is considered to be a promising hydrogen production method due to its inherent advantages such as high hydrogen storage capacity, non-pollution environment, and controllable hydrogen release process. However, its hydrogen production performance under mild conditions still needs improvement. Therefore, developing catalysts to accelerate the hydrolysis of ABis crucial. In this paper, the latest research progress in the hydrolysis of AB for hydrogen production is reviewed from the perspective of different dimensional catalysts. The mechanism of AB hydrolysis catalysis is systematically discussed. The effects of catalyst synthesis methods on the structure and properties, and the intermittent and continuous processes of ABhydrolysis are discussed. Finally, the challenges and possible solutions of ammonia borane hydrogen production are proposed. This review will provide a comprehensive guidance for the development of efficient AB hydrolysis catalysts in the future.
