Application of TMU-17-UR as a pillar-layered MOFs as a hydrogen bonding catalyst for the preparation of pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinolines

Abstract

In this report, TMU-17-UR was synthesized as a new H-bond catalyst. In the structure of TMU-17, carboxylic acid and pyridine ligands were used for the formation of desired pillar-layered metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). TMU-17-UR was created via a post-modification method by creating urea groups on TMU-17-NH2, which turned it into a suitable H-bond catalyst. The structure of TMU-17-UR was characterized and confirmed using various techniques. The catalytic ability of this structure was investigated in the preparation of pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinolines as important biological compounds under environmentally friendly and mild reaction conditions. The structure of the obtained products was confirmed using techniques such as FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and their melting point. The results obtained here have shown that the development of task-specific heterogeneous catalysts can be continued.
