One-pot three-component synthesis of benzo[h]isoquinolin-3-ones via rhodium(iii)-catalyzed C–H activation

Abstract

A Rh(III)-catalyzed one-pot synthesis of benzo[h]isoquinolin-3-ones from 1-naphthaldehyde, aniline and diazo compounds has been realized, with an imine serving as the directing group which was generated through aldimine condensation in situ. This concise protocol features low catalyst loading, excellent yield of products, and a broad substrate scope.
