Visible-Light-Induced Radical Trifluoromethylation/Cyclization of N-Arylacrylamides with Trifluoromethyl Phenyl Sulfone

Abstract

An efficient method for the visible-light-induced radical trifluoromethylation/cyclization of N-arylacrylamides with trifluoromethyl phenyl sulfone has been developed. This transformation benefits from mild conditions, readily available CF3 radical precursors and wide substrate scope. In addition, this protocol not only affords a new synthetic application of trifluoromethyl phenyl sulfone, but also offers a new route to generate trifluoromethyl radical.
