Highly Emissive Boranil-Pyrene Hybrid for Latent Fingerprint Visualization
Abstract
Here we discuss the synthesis of a boranil-pyrene-based probe and its application for fluorescent visualization of latent fingerprints (LFPs) through the powder dusting technique, eliminating the need for a binder. The LFPs were developed on a range of porous and non-porous surfaces, revealing clear and intact level 1-2 details using our probe. Additionally, developed LFPs were successfully preserved for up to 100 days and used to develop fingerprints aged for 10 days. This simplest, faster, and straightforward method offers an interesting alternative to the existing conventional methods.
