Structures of aggregated metal-centered organic molecules revealed by transmission electron microscopy

Abstract

We employ advanced aberration-corrected transmission electron microscopy to characterize the structure of the organic solid tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato) aluminum (Alq3). Our analysis examines the structures of Alq3 crystals, molecular clusters, and single molecules, revealing the molecular packing arrangements in both well-dispersed and crystalline phases.
