Isomeric double-cavity coordination cages: to encapsulate or not to encapsulate the guest

Abstract

A series of three isomeric double-cavity discrete coordination cages with Pd 3 L 4 formulation, constructed from Pd(II) and regioisomeric tris-monodentate ligands, are compared for binding of pyrazine N,N'-dioxide. Two of the isomeric cages efficiently encapsulated the guest in both cavities whereas one of the isomers rejected the guest completely.
