Abstract
The pentafluorophenyl moiety C6F5− was succesfully employed for the first time in lead(II) chemistry. We are reporting on the stable and soluble organolead(II) polymer [Pb(C6F5)2(dx)]∞ (dx = dioxane). An example of a Pb(II) “ate” complex paired with a trimetallic magnesium cation is also presented. Our foray into related tin(II) chemistry shows that this behaviour cannot be extended to the lighter tetrel, and is specific to lead(II).
