Homochiral Coordination Polymer with 1D Helical Chain Based on Self-Assembly of an Achiral Sc(III) Trimer

Abstract

A 1D helix was prepared through spontaneous asymmetrical crystallization using achiral precursors, i.e., [Sc3O(O2CR)6(H2O)3] trimers and formate ligands, in absence of any homochiral sources. These helical units were connected with interstitial water molecules by strong hydrogen bond interactions to generate a homochiral 3D supramolecular structure.
