Nitrogen and phosphorus co-doped hierarchical porous carbon for efficient uranium adsorption

Abstract

A facile fabrication strategy without additional activation is reported for preparing N and P co-doped porous carbon, which was achieved via direct pyrolysis of melamine/phytic acid/chitosan (MA/PA/CS) supramolecular aggregates. The constructed three-dimensional porous structure with rich N/P-based functional groups enables rapid diffusion and high affinity for U(VI). At pH 6.0, the uranium adsorption capacity reaches up to 907.35 mg g−1.
