Multistage control of near-infrared and magnetic properties via π-dimer modulation in TCNQ radical anion salts
Abstract
We report a liquescent 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane radical anion (TCNQ˙−) salt with an N,N′-di-n-octylimidazolium ion that exhibits unprecedented three-stage switching of magnetic and NIR-II absorption properties upon thermal stimulation. This behavior originates from stepwise transformations between co-facial and slipped-stacking π-dimers and monomeric TCNQ˙− species.
