g-C3N4/Bi2O3 hetero-nanosheets as superior electrocatalyst for nitrate reduction to ammonia

Abstract

The Faradaic efficiency of the electro-synthesis of ammonia from nitrate reduction reaction (NO3-RR) relies the electrocatalyst to hydrogenate NO3- and simultaneously suppress hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Due to the formation of heterostructure, Faradaic efficiency of g-C3N4/Bi2O3 reaches 91.12% at -0.4 V vs. RHE due to more oxygen vacancies.
