Borophene Nanosheets Bearing Antioxidative Enzyme-like Activities for Protection Against Cisplatin-Induced Hearing Loss
Abstract
Catalytic therapy over biocompatible nanocatalysts serves as a promising approach for hearing loss protection. Herein, ultrathin two-dimensional borophene nanosheets (BNS) were obtained via liquid exfoliation, demonstrating good antioxidative catalytic activities for converting highly toxic reactive oxygen species. The BNS exhibit significant protective effects against cisplatin-induced hair cell damage, as demonstrated in HEI-OC1 cells, cochlear explants, and zebrafish larvae, and further mechanistic studies highlighted its therapeutic potential in hearing loss.
