Modulating Supramolecular Pt•••Pt Interactions and π-π Stacking for High-Contrast Mechanochromic and Vapochromic

Abstract

In this study, a platinum(II) complex (Pt-PF) with bis(imidazolyl)pyridine ligands was synthesized, and its photophysical properties were comprehensively characterized. Two distinct forms ofPt-PF (Y-Pt-PF, R-Pt-PF) exhibiting different colors and structural arrangements were identified. Modulated supramolecular Pt•••Pt interactions and π-π stacking patterns make Pt-PF transformation from yellow Y-Pt-PF to red R-Pt-PF occurred under mechanical grinding or exposure to CH 3 CN or MeOH vapors and demonstrating high-contrast mechanochromic and vapochromic luminescence properties.
