Electronic tuning of functionalized iron porphyrins for 4-electron dominant oxygen reduction catalysis

Abstract

Iron porphyrins functionalized with –NH2, –COOH and –C6F5 groups were investigated for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). FePor-C6F5/CNT exhibited the best activity, influenced by electronic modulation. All catalysts demonstrated a preference for the 4e route, providing valuable insights into the design of molecular catalysts for energy applications.
