Synthesis of NiO/Bi2O3 composite nanosheets and their photocatalytic CO2 reduction performance

Abstract

The development of catalysts for photocatalytic reduction of CO2 is of great significance for addressing the excessive emission of CO2. In this study, we designed and synthesized a series of NiO/Bi2O3 composite nanoflakes and used them for the photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Among them, Ni/Bi-30 gives the best CO2 reduction activity with a CO generation rate of 10.2 μmol g-1 h-1 and a selectivity of 100 %. The mechanism study indicates that the Z-type heterojunction formed between NiO and Bi2O3, which promotes the separation of photogenerated carriers and enhances the photocatalytic effect.
