Dual-function Ln modification in multi-shell CoP: antioxidant stabilization and H* adsorption modulation for boosting hydrogen evolution electrocatalysis

Abstract

Herein, a multi-shelled Ce-doped CoP/CoO microsphere (CoP/CoO-5%Ce-ms) was constructed via morphology and rare earth engineering. Experimental and theoretical investigations disclose the Ce-induced dual functions, suppressing oxidation and optimizing electronic structure. As a result, the active CoP phase, the H* adsorption energy and the active site number were improved to boost the HER activity.
