Photocatalytic water oxidation on a perylene imide polymer loaded with a complex Ru co-catalyst

Abstract

Photocatalytic water oxidation offers a promising solution to the intermittent solar energy supply. We report a Ru-based oligomer as an efficient co-catalyst for photocatalytic water oxidation in combination with conjugated organic light absorbers. Loading the Ru co-catalyst onto a urea-linked perylene imide polymer via electrostatic interaction significantly improved the activity.
