Low-coordination water in COFs and acid-free proton conduction†
Abstract
In this study, a covalent organic framework (COF) membrane has been synthesized, featuring one-dimensional channels akin to those of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), yet boasting enhanced crystallinity and electrical insulation properties. It exhibits remarkable acid-free proton conduction in aqueous environments, which is attributed to the orientation distribution and low coordination number of water molecules in the confined space.
