Hydrodechlorination under O2 promotes catalytic oxidation of CVOCs over a Pt/TiO2 catalyst at low temperature

Abstract

A novel strategy to promote elimination of CVOCs at low temperature, specifically involving hydrodechlorination under O2, was proposed. Turnover frequency and HCl yield in oxidation of vinyl chloride increased, respectively, by over 22 and 43 times (225 °C) with the assistance of 1000 ppm H2. A new chemical equation (CH2[double bond, length as m-dash]CHCl + H2 + O2 → CO2 + HCl + H2O) was used to describe the reaction.
