Synthesis of efficient submicron γ-AlON Mn2+, Mg2+ phosphors for mini-LEDs by a coprecipitation precursor method†
Abstract
The coprecipitation precursor (COP) method was employed to prepare a narrow band green phosphor, γ-AlON Mn2+, Mg2+, for mini-LED displays. The emission intensity of the system was enhanced by increasing the nitrogen content. Additionally, at lower synthesis temperatures, the submicron phosphor prepared via coprecipitation exhibited smaller particle size (average particle size 1.52 μm), while maintaining 80% of the PL spectral intensity compared to samples prepared through a high temperature solid phase reaction. Moreover, these small-sized luminescent particles demonstrated excellent thermal stability and retained 80.2% PL spectral intensity even at a normal temperature of 423 K. Utilizing this as a green emitter enabled us to fabricate a high-performance white LED device (WLED) with a color temperature of 6486 K and an expanded color gamut reaching 102% NTSC, thereby showcasing its potential application in the field of mini-LED displays.
